Several rare bird species have descended on Taroko National Park in the eastern county of Hualien recently. Though they only visit in the winter, their short stay has enriched ecology there and offered researchers a great chance to collect data.
These beautiful rare birds have recently come to Taroko National Park. They are migratory birds like the suzaku and blue-and-white flycatcher.
A National Dong Hwa University survey shows that bird species in Taiwan have increased from 152 about ten years ago to 213.
A park official says it’s rare to have suzakus there as the species is seldom seen in Taiwan.
The increase in migratory birds allows ecologists to do more research on these rare species. It also enables them to have a better understanding of the distribution of bird species at different altitudes.
