Taiwan formally opens its representative office in Provence, France

The foreign ministry on Monday announced the official opening of Taiwan’s representative office in Provence, France. 

In a pre-recorded video message for the occasion, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said France is an important economic partner to Taiwan. He said the prospects of cooperation in aerospace, biomedicine, and technology look promising between the two sides. Wu said he also foresees new partnerships in smart healthcare, renewable energy and the circular economy.

With the new office, Wu said that Taiwan will be able to provide more immediate and better services to the French people and overseas Taiwanese. He said in addition, Taiwan will strengthen bilateral trade, cultural and tourism exchanges with southern France.

The foreign ministry said from 2016 to 2019, the number of Taiwanese visiting France increased by 62% while the number of French arriving in Taiwan went up by nearly 30%.
