Taiwan will extend a two-week ban on entry for Indonesian workers as COVID-19 continues to hit Indonesia. That was the word from the Central Epidemic Command Center on Wednesday.
Taiwan began a two-week ban on Indonesian workers on December 4 due to the high number of Indonesians with COVID-19 that had come to Taiwan. The center said the ban would lift depending on whether the situation in Indonesia improves.
The center also announced seven new imported cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Two of the new patients are Filipino migrant workers, four are Russian performers, and one is a Taiwanese man who had been in the United States.
These patients had all tested negative for COVID-19 within three days of their departure for Taiwan. The Taiwanese man showed some symptoms of COVID-19 while in home quarantine. The foreign nationals did not exhibit any symptoms while in quarantine, but later tested positive for COVID-19.
Taiwan has now reported a total of 750 COVID-19 cases. Taiwan has not seen a case of domestic transmission since April 12.
