With the pandemic still ongoing around the world, not too many places are planning lavish New Year’s Eve celebrations. With domestic transmission of COVID-19 contained for over the past 200 days, Taipei is getting ready for its annual New Year’s Eve fireworks at Taipei 101, which usually brings over 1 million people to the area to watch the extravagant display.
Every New Year’s Eve , people enjoy watching the Taipei 101 fireworks. Good news came on Wednesday.
Taipei 101 Chairman announced that the fireworks show will be on as usual this year. He said Taiwan has done a great job containing COVID-19 so it’s time to celebrate Taiwan’s success. He wants the world to know that Taiwan is a safe and highly civilized place and our thoughts are with the rest of the world.
He said, this year’s theme is “Let love embrace the world, Let hope light up the future.” He said we want to give our prayers and best wishes for people’s safety and health around the world in the coming year.
This year’s fireworks will be 300 seconds long and feature 16,000 fireworks. For the first time, the show will be 360 degrees enabling people to enjoy it while watching from any angle of the building.
