Sun Moon Lake in the central county of Nantou has been turned into a fairyland as mist descends over its waters.
Sun Moon Lake is a popular tourist destination that boasts spectacular scenery. Whenever the northeasterly winds become stronger in the winter, the lake and its surrounding mountains are shrouded in mist, enhancing the view all the more.
The mist presents visitors with a great opportunity to snap some photos. One photographer says this scene is a rare one, only appearing when there is a sharp difference in daytime and nighttime temperatures.
One local resident says the mist will clear after about 30 minutes, which he says is part of the beauty of Sun Moon Lake.
Sun Moon Lake lies only 748 meters above sea level, but air here can freeze after rising to a certain height, bringing this misty cloud with it when it sinks back down again.
