Taipei residents might argue that when it comes to ringing in a new year, nothing can beat the Taipei 101 New Year fireworks show. But the southern city of Kaohsiung would disagree. There, a laser show, a drone light show, and a series of concerts are on the menu this New Year, and they will continue over many nights.
Every night from Christmas Eve until January 3, Kaohsiung residents will enjoy a laser show, world-class concerts, and light shows using drones over the city’s Love River.
The nightly spectacle will begin with a 15-minute laser show. After that will come a performance by a 250-strong indigenous Taiwanese children’s choir accompanied by the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra. Ending the program will be a light show featuring festive Christmas formations put together with the use of 500 drones.
This program will repeat once every 30 minutes between 6:30 and 10:30 pm. The government is reminding spectators that they must observe epidemic regulations and wear masks as they take in the show.
