Two US Navy destroyers have passed through the Taiwan Strait in a routine operation. According to Reuters, the ships were the USS John S. McCain and the USS Curtis Wilbur.
The defense ministry says it was aware of all of the ships’ movements. The ships passed through the strait from its southern end to its northern end on Thursday morning.
The US Navy says the transit shows the United States’ commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific Region.
