The American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei has announced that it is changing its name to the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan on Friday.
A statement from the organization Thursday said that the old name had always caused confusion because people were not aware that the organization represents American firms throughout Taiwan, and not just in Taipei.
The change also reflects the chamber’s scope of work, including its annual Taiwan White Paper.
The chamber said that it will be celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2021. It also said that it will continue to act as a bridge between Taiwan and the US.
The chamber was founded in 1951 as a non-profit, non-partisan business organization dedicated to promoting the development of international companies in Taiwan. It has around 1,000 members and acts as a voice for multinational companies in Taiwan.
