Taiwan premier Su Tseng-chang visited a Taoyuan elementary school on Tuesday and praised the local schools’ new healthy lunches. Taoyuan is a city in the northwest of Taiwan.

Four Taoyuan schools are now offering lunches made exclusively using ingredients that fit the ‘3 Stamp 1 Q’ food standard. The standard uses three stamps and one QR-code to show that the food is locally sourced and certified. People can also trace the origins of the ingredients through the QR code.

Premier Su also said that the government would increase the subsidies for healthy school lunches from NT$ 3.5 to NT$6 per meal.

He expressed hope that other schools around Taiwan would follow Taoyuan’s example.
