Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council is calling on China not to use Taiwanese citizens as guinea pigs for COVID-19 vaccine testing.
The Council is also asking Taiwanese citizens in China to consider the risks before taking China’s vaccine.
This came after China recently announced Taiwanese nationals would be included in a ‘priority schedule’ to receive the treatment.
The Mainland Affairs Council said that more international scientific verification should take place before citizens considered vaccination in China.
China’s Taiwan Affairs Office responded on Monday by accusing Taiwan’s Council of deliberately slandering the Chinese vaccine. It said Taiwanese nationals had the right to decide whether or not to accept vaccination.
