National Taiwan University is planning an international institute of graduate studies reserved for students from overseas. According to the plan, all of the institute’s courses will be taught in English. Students will be charged US$10,000 in tuition for each academic year.
However, many details of the plan remain undecided, and the university doesn’t expect to put the plan into action until next semester at the earliest.
An earlier plan for a similar institute at the university, floated in 2017, would have had a mixed international and Taiwanese student body. However, it failed to get approval from the education ministry due to issues such as a planned tuition of US$20,000 per academic year, a price the education ministry deemed too high.
