Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that Taiwan and the US enjoy close communication and common understanding on many issues. The comments came ahead of Thursday’s US-Taiwan Political and Military Dialogue.
The US said on Tuesday that State Department official Clarke Cooper would chair the virtual discussion.
The foreign ministry called the US a firm friend and said Taiwan was committed to strengthening dialogue and cooperation on all fronts.
The dialogue will focus on the regional situation, Taiwan-US military cooperation, and weapons sales. The foreign ministry declined to comment further, saying that doing so would violate the two parties’ mutual trust.
