Taiwan set to receive COVID-19 patients from Guam
The flight will arrive on January 11.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that a flight from Guam carrying COVID-19 patients would arrive in Taiwan on January 11.

The flight follows an agreement between Taiwanese representatives, the Guam government, and hospitals in Taiwan.

Taiwan’s health ministry has approved the flight on humanitarian grounds.

The plane will be chartered from China Airlines. All passengers will be required to undergo quarantine on arrival.

Flights between Guam and Taiwan stopped in March last year, leaving more than 100 Taiwanese nationals stranded. Some have since made their way home, though many still remain. Next Monday’s flight is expected to carry home some of those stranded in Guam and nearby Saipan.

A delegation including Governor of Guam Lou Leon Guerrero will welcome the flight at the airport.
