The foreign ministry has expressed its condolences to Indonesia’s representative in Taiwan after a deadly earthquake hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi Friday morning.
Reports indicate that at least seven were killed and that a number of others are trapped under rubble. Images taken after the earthquake show extensive damage, including collapsed buildings. No Taiwanese nationals are among the tally of those killed or injured, but the foreign ministry has told Indonesia’s representative that Taiwan’s government stands ready to send help if needed.
Taiwan’s representative offices in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Surabaya are monitoring the situation in the affected region.
