Taiwan has reported one new imported case of COVID-19 on Friday. This new case brings the total number of COVID-19 cases Taiwan has reported so far up to 843.
The infected patient is a Indonesian fisherman in his twenties. He entered Taiwan December 31 and tested positive at the end of the mandatory two-week quarantine period. The patient has no symptoms and his Ct-value is high. This indicates that he is carrying a low amount of the virus.
The Central Epidemic Command Center says that there are no contacts to be traced because the patient did not come into contact with others during quarantine.
Of Taiwan’s 843 COVID-19 infections, 746 have been imported. There have only been three domestic infections since mid-April. In total, seven people have died of the illness in Taiwan so far, while another 95 people remain in hospital.
