Taiwanese American entrepreneur Dave Lu says he's never seen so many people want to come to Taiwan. Lu made the comment in a Reddit discussion about coming to Taiwan during the pandemic.
Lu and Steve Chen, the co-founder of YouTube, are the founders of Taiwan X, an organization that helps Taiwanese entrepreneurs.
Lu moved his family to Taiwan from California during the pandemic. He made the move due to the spread of COVID-19 and the tense political environment in the US. He said Taiwan offers a safer and more stable environment and he cherishes its “normalcy” at this time.
He said there have never been so many people from all over the world who have no connection to Taiwan that want to move here. They want to come because Taiwan has handled COVID-19 so well. He said many have developed their careers and personal networks here.
Lu said Taiwan has been a light to the world during the pandemic and he is excited about that. Lu also said that Taiwan's reliable and innovative environment can attract a lot of talent and capital and he foresees that the number of new entrepreneurs will grow here. While in Taiwan, Lu has been connecting people in the Taiwan and US tech industry.
Lu is a holder of the Taiwan Gold Employment Card, which gives highly-skilled foreign talent the right to live and work in Taiwan.
