Three Chinese military aircraft entered Taiwan's southwest air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on Monday. That was the eighth consecutive day there have been incursions according to Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND).
The ministry showed that a Y-8 tactical reconnaissance plane, a Y-8 anti-submarine plane and a Y-8 electronic warfare plane entered airspace southwest of Taiwan between Taiwan and the Dongsha (Pratas) Islands in the South China Sea.
Taiwan’s Air Force scrambled fighter jets to monitor the Chinese aircraft, issued radio warnings and mobilized air defense assets until they left the zone.
An ADIZ is established by a country to allow identification, location and control of approaching foreign aircraft. But unlike territorial air space, there’s no legal basis for ADIZ
Defense ministry records show that China has deployed military aircraft in Taiwan's ADIZ every day in January except for Jan. 1, Jan. 8 and Jan. 10.
