President Tsai Ing-wen says that the government will continue to work to protect firefighters’ safety and rights. Tsai was speaking on Tuesday while honoring firefighters, fire prevention advocates, as well as rescue and disaster relief volunteers.
Tsai said that natural disasters often take place in Taiwan. Tsai thanked all the national disaster prevention and relief workers for their dedicated public service. The president said that the country has strengthened its disaster prevention capabilities through enhancing training, equipment, and manpower. At the same time, the government is amending regulations to enhance firefighters’ security.
Tsai said the government has worked to set up a medical care trust fund not only for firefighters but also for volunteer firefighters and disaster prevention and relief groups.
