President Tsai Ing-wen has highlighted the importance her administration places on the development of green energy.
During a meeting Thursday with representatives from the solar power industry, Tsai said that green energy has occupied an important place in her administration’s policies, from the industrial innovation plan it has been promoting for several years to the government’s “six core strategic industries” policy, rolled out last year.
Tsai said that a stable supply of green energy is essential if Taiwan is to achieve its goal of transforming its energy mix. She also said that green energy is essential to Taiwan’s global competitiveness as major corporations begin requiring suppliers to use at least some renewable energy.
