The European Parliament has adopted pro-Taiwan resolutions as part of annual reports on the EU’s common foreign and defense policies.
The resolutions express concern about China’s increased threats towards Taiwan. They also call on the EU and its member states to reevaluate and strengthen exchanges with Taiwan, and to work with international partners to ensure that Taiwanese democracy is not threatened. In addition, the resolutions commend Taiwan for its success in fighting disease and for its large-scale donations of surgical masks to EU member states.
According to Taiwan’s representatives to the EU, this is the most Taiwan-friendly text to be included in these annual reports in nearly five years.
