US President Joe Biden has named Taiwanese journalist Kelu Chao as acting CEO of the US Agency for Global Media.
Chao has been nominated to act as the agency’s interim CEO until a permanent successor is chosen by the US Senate.
Chao had previously worked at Voice of America for more than 20 years. She was the station’s first director of language programming from 2001 to 2007.
In her temporary position, Chao will oversee the agency’s networks, which include Voice of America, Radio Free Asia, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, Middle East Broadcasting Networks, and the Open Technology Fund.
