VIDEO: OCAC to promote Taiwan through special edition of care packages
Special edition care packages for overseas Taiwanese

Taiwan has seen success in containing the COVID-19 pandemic at home, and it has also offered aid and assistance to other countries that the pandemic has hit harder. The Overseas Community Affairs Council is joining in by sending special care packages to Taiwanese people abroad.

The Overseas Community Affairs Council announced on Thursday that it will send 35,000 limited edition care packages to Taiwanese nationals living overseas. The packages are printed with a logo bearing the phrase “Taiwan Can Help”. Inside the packages are items made in Taiwan, including Taiwan-shaped handmade soaps and masks featuring the Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s mascot, a cartoon Formosan black bear.

The council says it hopes recipients wear the masks in order to promote Taiwan, and hopefully one day allow it to return to the World Health Assembly, the WHO’s decision-making body.

Meanwhile, the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce calls for the WHO not to exclude Taiwan because of political factors. The chambers of commerce say that as long as Taiwan remains unable to share its epidemic prevention measures, the WHO will remain incomplete.
