Taiwan ranks 3rd in the world in containment of COVID-19: Survey
The survey was conducted by the Australian-based Lowy Institute for International Policy.

Taiwan ranks third in the world in terms of its success in containing the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s according to a survey entitled “COVID performance index,” which was released Thursday by the Australian-based Lowy Institute for International Policy.

Of the 98 countries surveyed, Taiwan came third, following New Zealand and Vietnam. The United States, with over 25 million confirmed infections, was placed near the bottom, at 94. The UK, which has the highest number of deaths in Europe, was ranked 66th.

The think tank did not include China in its survey due to a lack of publicly available data. That’s despite the fact that COVID-19 emerged in Wuhan, China.

According to the survey, countries in the Asia-Pacific region have been most successful in keeping COVID-19 at bay. In fourth to tenth place were Thailand, Cyprus, Rwanda, Iceland, Australia, Latvia, and Sri Lanka, in that order.
