Taiwan records one new imported COVID-19 case; total at 913
The CECC announced one new imported COVID-19 case on Monday

Taiwan recorded one new imported case of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the country’s total since the beginning of the pandemic to 913 cases.

The latest confirmed case is a Taiwanese male in his 30’s. The man tested positive for COVID-19 while in Japan last December and was admitted to a local hospital there. The man was released on January 1 after testing negative for the coronavirus.

The Central Epidemic Command Center says the man returned to Taiwan on January 9. Two more COVID-19 tests came back negative -- one that was taken upon landing in Taiwan and the other while he was in quarantine.

The man was released from quarantine on January 24, but began exhibiting symptoms on January 29. He was then confirmed with COVID-19 on Monday.

Health authorities say they have followed up with one person who came in contact with the man, and have asked the individual to monitor their health.
