The Chinese New Year is approaching, which means there will be many family gatherings - and questions asked. Feasting with family is part of the holiday tradition, but so are questions that parents and the older generation often ask their children.

What questions do working people fear most? A Yes123 survey released on Tuesday found the top questions people feared weren’t related to love and marriage but rather money and work. The top three questions working people feared were: "How much did you get for your year end bonus?, “What’s your current salary? Is it enough?” and “What is your job? Where are you working?”.

Rounding out the top ten questions people feared were “When do you plan to get married?”,”Are you dating anyone?”, “When do you want to have children?”, “Do you own a home? A car?”, “Would you like me to set up a date for you?” and “Is your job stable? Do you have a good boss?”, and “Did you gain weight?”

Regarding these fears, Yes123 spokesperson Yang Chong-bin had a message," [I'd like to] remind parents and elders not to give children too much pressure about their career and marriage plans. Encourage rather than scold, offer suggestions rather than commands.”

As for year end bonuses, employees expect to receive an average of NT$24,605 (US$880) while 43% expect no bonus at all. They also said a bonus of NT$83,000 (about US$3,000) would keep them from wanting to find a new job.
