The health ministry says samples of imported frozen food all tested negative for COVID-19. The tests on over 400 food products included their inner and outer packets.

The ministry conducted testing for imported pork, beef, chicken and seafood from early November to the end of January. The products were imported from 10 countries, including China, Japan, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Test results show that the chance of contracting COVID-19 through imported frozen food is extremely low.

The World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations both said no evidence shows that the virus will spread through food or its inner and outer packets.

However, to assure the public about food safety, the health ministry will conduct more tests on imported foods in the future.
