In order to crack down on sexual violence on the Internet, the Cabinet's Gender Equality Committee has released definitions and explanations of digital crimes including sexual harassment, sexual blackmail, and Internet stalking.
Premier Su Tseng-chang had asked the committee to tackle these problems from legal, investigative, and educational angles. The committee said that it would promote understanding of these crimes and investigate any cases of them.
The committee's definition of Internet stalking includes sending emails or messages that attack or threaten others. It also includes causing fear through verbal attacks on other people's Internet comments, or stalking and monitoring others' activities.
The definition of sexual blackmail includes blackmailing or threatening others with words, audio, images or videos of a sexual nature. Internet sexual harassment includes sending obscene words, audio, images, or videos to others without their consent, whether via email, messages, social media websites, or chat rooms.
