Taiwan has reported two new imported cases of COVID-19, bringing the country’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases up to 917.
Both of the new patients are Indonesian migrant workers in their twenties. They arrived in Taiwan on the same flight on January 16 and tested positive after completing the mandatory two-week quarantine period. Authorities have identified 16 potential contacts, all of whom are now practicing self-health management.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s education ministry says it is delaying the start of the new school term by four days in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Education Minister Pan Wen-chung says the delay is to ensure that school premises can be properly sanitized before students return after the Lunar New Year.
