President Tsai Ing-wen has praised public officials for their contribution to improvement and change in the government. Tsai was speaking Friday at a ceremony honoring outstanding individuals in public service.
Tsai thanked the public officials for their adjustments to changes over time. She said that their efforts and contributions have made it possible to provide better service to Taiwan’s people. She also thanked them for their diligence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tsai cited a few honorees for their achievements. These include Ni Jia-ling of the New Taipei City government’s education bureau. Ni overcame a hearing impairment and established a policy for creative education. Another mentioned was Taichung district attorney Shih Jia-rong, who developed a program to help prosecutors in the investigation of online drug crimes.
