Tsai vows support for police force
President Tsai Ing-wen has vowed to throw her support behind the police force.

President Tsai Ing-wen has vowed to throw her support behind the police force. Tsai was speaking Friday while visiting two police stations near the president’s official residence.

Tsai said she would like to thank the police on behalf of Taiwan’s people because their job is now particularly demanding due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tsai said that the government has been able to keep COVID-19 at bay because of the role police have played since the outbreak of the disease began. She said that besides maintaining social order, fighting crime, and cracking down on drugs, police have been asked to support quarantine prevention measures introduced by the Central Epidemic Command Center.

Tsai also said that several opinion polls show that the public are highly satisfied with the work of the police force. The president vowed to continue strengthening their benefits and measures designed to protect their personal safety.
