President Tsai Ing-wen says the government is working to make breakthroughs in industry innovation, the investment environment and global economic ties. Tsai was speaking Tuesday while meeting with leaders from Taiwan’s industrial and business sectors.
Tsai said the government will continue building its six core strategic industries. These include: information and digital technology; cybersecurity; biotech and medical technology; national defense and strategic industries; green energy and renewable energy resources; and “strategic stockpile industries that can ensure the steady provision of critical supplies.”
Tsai also promised to practically address the needs of returning Taiwanese businessmen such as the need for land and a more stable electricity supply.
In terms of global economic ties, Tsai said Taiwan will strengthen cooperation with the United States in its supply chain, 5G and telecommunication security, science, technology, and key infrastructure.
