EU Formosa Club launches Twitter account
The Formosa Club launched its Twitter account Monday.

The Formosa Club launched its Twitter account Monday. The organization is made up of EU and European lawmakers and aims to promote Taiwan’s relations with Europe and connect Taiwan with the world. 

The club was established in October 2019. Members include Taiwan Friendship Groups in the European Parliament and national parliaments of Belgium, Czech, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and the United Kingdom

In a video, Formosa Club Co-chair Michael Gahler said EU parliamentarians and members of 12 national parliaments in Europe will exchange information about how to support Taiwan.

In the same video, chairman of the German-Taiwanese Parliamentarian Group who is also co-chair of the Formosa Club, Klaus-Peter Willsch, said Taiwan is a beacon of democracy, rule of law and freedom.  

Another co-chair of the organization, French parliamentarian Francois de Rugy, said he believes the Twitter account will be a major platform for safeguarding democratic values shared by Taiwan and France.
