Microsoft announced on Tuesday that it will be working with Taiwan's Hon Hai Technology Group in smart manufacturing. Hon Hai, also known as Foxconn, is the world's leading manufacturer of tech products such as iPhones and iPads.
Hon Hai Chairman Young Liu said that Hon Hai is on its way from transforming from Hon Hai Manufacturer to Hon Hai Technology. It aims to work with global partners to create comprehensive smart living technology.
Microsoft Taiwan General Manager Ken Sun said that customization has become a big trend in manufacturing. There is a need for factories to rely less on machines and people. Sun said Hon Hai is Taiwan's leading manufacturer and Microsoft looks forward to helping it transform into a leader of smart manufacturing.
Hon Hai and Microsoft plan to work together to further innovation through cloud native computing, use of Microsoft Dynamics 365, and putting core corporate systems in Azure cloud services. They also aim to have Hon Hai’s production facilities in over 20 countries to enable operation technology to link with IT networks.
