Taiwan received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday. The vaccine is manufactured by AstraZeneca. Health officials have confirmed that the shipment contains 117,000 doses of the vaccine, more than half of the 200,000 doses Taiwan has ordered through the international vaccine initiative COVAX.
Taiwan had expected to receive the shipment of vaccine doses in late February. Health authorities were only informed that the shipment was on its way shortly before it arrived.
