Premier Su Tseng-chang says strong support from the United States is the result of hard work by Taiwan’s people and its government. That comes two days after the Biden administration released its Interim National Security Strategic Guidance plan. The plan makes clear that the US “will support Taiwan, a leading democracy and a critical economic and security partner, in line with longstanding American commitments.”
Su said on Friday that the recent policy document proves the government’s critics wrong. He says that in the past, people said the government had miscalculated in its foreign policy. But Su says the Biden administration’s new guidance clearly shows Taiwan is a key partner of the United States.
Su says Taiwan and the US share common values, and are working together in a number of policy areas. He says Taiwan’s government will promote further cooperation in order to strengthen regional and national security.
