The Guam Visitors Bureau announced Thursday that it has established a new marketing committee focused on boosting tourism from Taiwan.
Also on Thursday, the bureau removed Taiwan from Guam’s Greater China Marketing Committee, which now only handles business cooperation with China and Hong Kong.
Taiwan’s representative office in Guam says the move is a sign of respect for Taiwan, and will help enhance development in Taiwan-Guam relations.
The bureau’s Taiwan representative, Felix Yen, said that Japan and South Korea have been the main sources of tourism in Guam, but Taiwan is another tourism market with potential.
