The transportation ministry says it is ready to put a proposed COVID-19 travel bubble between Taiwan and the Pacific island nation of Palau into place.

The two countries are in talks about establishing a travel bubble, and one senior foreign ministry official said Tuesday that the two sides should reach a conclusion before the end of the month.

On Wednesday, Transportation Minister Lin Chia-lung said that his ministry’s bureaus, including the Civil Aeronautics Administration and the Tourism Bureau have already discussed policies related to the proposed travel bubble with airlines and travel agencies. Lin said that once Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center agrees to the travel bubble and the foreign ministries of Taiwan and Palau reach an agreement, the transportation ministry stands ready to make the travel bubble a reality.
