An automated production line for making medical masks that Taiwan donated to the Czech Republic has gone online.
Foreign Minister Joseph Wu was among those who attended a virtual ribbon-cutting ceremony for the production line. During the ceremony, Wu said that as the COVID-19 pandemic pushes forward a restructuring of global supply chains, Taiwan is not just a reliable trading partner but a friend to the Czech Republic that shares its values. Wu said that the “Taiwan model” of responding to COVID-19 proves that democracy is the best system for pushing back against pandemics and other crises.
Meanwhile, Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil, who visited Taiwan last year, thanked Taiwan for the donation of the production line and voiced approval for recent developments in cooperation between the Czech Republic and Taiwan in areas including trade, technology, and education.
