VIDEO: Taiwan donates medical supplies to France to help contain COVID-19

Taiwan has donated medical supplies to France to help contain the COVID-19 pandemic. The foreign ministry held a ceremony last week to facilitate the private sector initiative.

Taiwan has donated 120,000 face masks and disinfectants to France. At a donation ceremony at the foreign ministry, boxes of medical supplies are decorated with the national flags of Taiwan and France.

At the ceremony are: Deputy Foreign Minister Harry Tseng, Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan and the head of the French office in Taipei, Jean-François Casabonne-Masonnave.

Mayor Cheng says he believes that Taiwan is a good friend and partner for France in Asia.

One highlight of the press conference is pineapple snacks for the guests.  Deputy Foreign Minister Tseng says he trusts that Taiwan-France ties will continue to strengthen and that the friendship is as “sweet as pineapples.”

French Mayor Éric Straumann of Colmar City, says the face masks will go to people who need them most. The Red Cross in France also says the donation is a huge help.
