Two members of Japan’s legislature, the Diet, have delivered a letter formally inviting Taiwanese athletes to this summer’s Tokyo Olympics. Lawmakers Eto Seiichi and Yamatani Eriko delivered the letter during a visit to Taiwan’s representative to Japan, Frank Hsieh on Tuesday.
The letter informed Hsieh that the Olympics will take place from July 23 to August 8 and that the Paralympics will run from August 24 to September 5.
Hsieh said that more than 30 Taiwanese athletes have qualified for events in nine categories this year. He said Taiwan’s track and field team and baseball team are still waiting to hear if they have qualified.
