The President of Palau, Surangel Whipps Jr., will make an official visit to Taiwan later this month. That was the word from Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Joanna Ou on Thursday. The visit will come just before the opening of a travel bubble between Taiwan and Palau that will allow tourism between the two countries.
Ou says that Whipps will arrive March 28, and will enjoy an official reception by Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu. That will be followed by meetings with President Tsai Ing-wen and Premier Su Tseng-chang. Whipps will also take part in an event organized by the Palau Visitor Authority’s representative office in Taiwan. Ou says the Palauan President will aim to promote mutual investment between the two countries, along with cooperation in tourism, healthcare and aviation.
Fittingly, Whipps will depart from Taiwan April 1 on a flight to Palau carrying the first travelers under the new travel bubble.
