Taiwan reported three new imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases Taiwan has recorded so far up to 1,012.
Two of the new patients are Philippine nationals who came to Taiwan for work earlier in the month. Both tested negative for COVID-19 within three days of arriving in Taiwan, and neither had any symptoms on arrival. One remains asymptomatic, but the other has developed COVID-19 symptoms.
The third patient is a Taiwanese national who had been in the United States in 2020. However, she returned at the end of November with no symptoms. She took another COVID-19 test on Tuesday because of upcoming plans to travel internationally again. The test results have come back positive, and health authorities suspect that this patient has been infected for a long time.
