Last year, with the help of media outlets including RTI, several Taiwanese children were able to reconnect with their foreign nannies who have since returned home and lost contact with them. Now, a Taiwanese nanny is hoping to locate an Indonesian child she fostered and who has since returned home with his birth mother.

Nanny Chen Yi-ching said she started taking care of the one year old Indonesian boy last October. Chen said it was her first time fostering a foreign child. Chen said the boy was not in good health. The child’s mother was a foreign worker in Taiwan, but she returned with Alen to Indonesia on March 10.

Chen said she wants to know how Alen is doing now and is willing to provide assistance in terms of living expenses and even help with school tuition for Alen in the future.

Chen got in contact with RTI’s Indonesian service program host Tony Thamsir and asked for assistance to locate the mother and child. She has since also contacted the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office in Taipei in hopes of hearing back from Alen and his mother soon.
