VIDEO: Hualien County’s Moon Cave reopens

With a long holiday weekend on the horizon, people around Taiwan are looking to escape for a good bit of rest and relaxation. Luckily for them, a couple of tourist spots in coastal Hualien County have finished restoration.

A group of Amis musicians serenade visitors on a sunny day in Hualien County. They’re celebrating the reopening of Fengbin Township’s famous Moon Cave. It’s been closed for repairs since October.

Fengbin Mayor Chiang Li-ting says tourists can visit for free. She says that’s to celebrate the reopening of the cave. Visitors simply take a ticket number and wait to board a boat before 4:30pm.

The cave is almost 200 metres long, with impressive stalactites on all sides. It’s known as the Moon Cave because its waters rise and fall with the tides. One visitor is blown away. He says it’s one of Mother Nature’s masterpieces.

Visitors to Hualien County can also visit Qinbuzhizi Walk. Recent repairs have left it safer and more beautiful than ever. With the Tomb-Sweeping Festival fast approaching, there’s never been a better time to enjoy the great outdoors.
