Taiwan’s representative to the US, Hsiao Bi-khim met Wednesday with former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington.
Pompeo tweeted a photo of him with Hsiao and wrote, “As Secretary of State, I worked to support Taiwan -- a fellow democracy -- in the face of unrelenting pressure. The US shares with Taiwan the core values of freedom, democracy, and a free market economy”. In an interview with Taiwan’s Central News Agency in early March, Pompeo had said it would be great if he has an opportunity to visit Taiwan in the future.
Hsiao also took to Twitter and said it was an honor to meet Pompeo. She tweeted, “Taiwan is grateful for his friendship and support. We look forward to continuing discussions on the longstanding friendship and partnership between Taiwan and the United States”.
