The first tourists who traveled to the Pacific island nation of Palau under a travel bubble initiative returned to Taiwan on Sunday evening. Taiwan and Palau launched the program on April 1, allowing for travel between the two countries with few quarantine restrictions.
The first flight carrying returning travelers from Taiwan arrived at 10:30pm on Sunday. Airport officials gave the passengers identification tags and escorted them through a special section of the airport.
Returning travelers say that Palau has a lot of prevention measures in place in order to accommodate visitors from Taiwan. They say the trip felt like a symbol of trust between the two countries.
