A bipartisan group of US senators has proposed a bill that would help strengthen Taiwan’s defenses against a possible Chinese invasion. This bill, called the Strategic Competition Act, will go before the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee for a vote on April 14.
According to foreign media outlets, the bill also calls for enhancing US-Taiwan relations. Three months into US President Joe Biden’s administration, the US Congress has proposed at least six bills backing Taiwan’s security, Taiwan’s participation in international organizations, and economic cooperation between the US and Taiwan.
