Online meeting on supply chains to be held under GCTF
Foreign ministry official Douglas Hsu

The foreign ministry says Taiwan, the United States, Japan and the EU will host a virtual meeting on Wednesday about the reorganization of supply chains and helping small and medium-sized businesses.  200 participants from 30 countries have registered for the event.

The meeting will be held under the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF).  Founded in 2015 by Taiwan and the US, GCTF serves as an exchange platform allowing Taiwan to share its expertise with other partners around the world. It has hosted 30 events with participants from 70 countries since then.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, foreign ministry official Douglas Hsu said the meeting will focus on the reorganization of supply chains after the global economy was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Another topic will be how governments can help small and medium-sized businesses to survive the crisis.

This is the first time that the EU will join the three other countries in hosting an event. Germany’s representative to Taiwan, Thomas Prinz, will also attend the event online for the first time.
