Taiwan has announced an emergency aid package of US$300,000 to Caribbean ally St. Vincent and the Grenadines. That’s as the country’s La Soufriere volcano continues to erupt, blanketing the country’s main island in ash.
The eruption began April 9, forcing mass evacuations and disrupting supplies of clean water and electricity.
All Taiwanese citizens and diplomats in the country are reported safe.
The foreign ministry says that in addition to the emergency aid, Taiwan will also provide St. Vincent and the Grenadines with further assistance as it becomes necessary.
