President Tsai Ing-wen says Taiwan’s ties with Belize are strong. Tsai was speaking Tuesday as Belize’s newly-appointed ambassador, Candice Pitts, submitted her letter of credence at the Presidential Office in Taipei.
Under Prime Minister John Briceno’s leadership, Tsai said, Belize has continued deepening its cooperation with Taiwan over the past few months.
Tsai said she trusts that Ambassador Candice Pitts will help build stronger ties for the two sides.
Taiwan and the Central American country will mark their 32nd anniversary of formal diplomatic relations in October.
Last year, the two sides signed agreements on economic cooperation and air services, as well as a mutual legal assistance treaty.
